That’s right..YOU ARE INVITED!
This season there is an invitation that is being set before each of us by God himself. I believe that when “we get quiet, we will catch the whisper” (Job 4:12) into what it is. My invitation was to start typing and extending again! I believe there are many invitations upon us this season, some that will only require us to show up and receive and others that will prompt us towards action.
There is a beautiful invite the Father extends in Luke 15:11-32. After a wayward son makes his way back home, the Father is so pleased and throws a lavish party. Most of us know how this goes, he invites many to come and CELEBRATE. He invites the young prodigal to take his place in the home and receive his sonship, mantling him with the ring, robe, feasting, dancing, partaking in an extravagant night of bliss.
He doesn’t extend all this to the son because is gifted, or because he has been good, but simply because he is His.
The older brother takes notice and isn’t pleased. He’s been working in the field (working for the Father you could say) and his duty + performance hasn’t been winning him any metals, which was fine until the younger son showed up and showed him that there was never anything to win anyway.
The older brother is deeply disappointed by His fathers actions, not understanding the kind of Father he is. Still, he has an invitation before him too.
Invitations are specific. There is a
- time
- date
- place
for the things we are being invited into.
It’s like Ecclesiastes 3 says, “there is a time and season for everything..” I wonder what God might have for you this time & season? How will you proceed forward? (Ecc. 8:6)
Your answer is on the other side of your asking. “No good thing does He withhold from us” (Psalm 84:11). It’s our privilege, our birthright as sons and daughters of a good Father to communicate with Him about what’s on His heart for us. Take the invitation, get quiet and listen, then lean into what He has for you this season…you won’t be sorry!
