Thanksgiving is approaching and at a time where we all gather and give thanks, I can’t help but draw from the symbolism of this season. The preparation that is being made behind the scenes, the places that are being set and re-set, and the great feasting that will take place..these are the things the Lord is doing on our behalf and we are invited into all of it.
There is a place at the table that He’s picked out and prepared for us, there is feasting to be had in His presence, and there is purpose as we gather in gratitude.
I had a picture this morning of someone setting and re-setting the table. Some of the shifts were small, like changing out the silverware or the serving bowl (“a new thing to serve from and new utensils/tools to receive with), but some of the changes were bigger.
Place settings that were switched around, chairs we were use to sitting with got re-arranged. It made me think that we shouldn’t get to comfortable with the familiar way we’ve been doing things, but instead allow God to move us, re-direct our attention, and be open to the new things He wants to put in front of us.
Don’t be afraid to reposition yourself this season, you might just have a better seat.
TO SET IN PLACE: to put in a specified place, to be purposefully situated.
RE-SET: to set again or differently, to be placed anew.
“He set’s a table before me in the presence of our enemies, He anoints my head with oil, my cup overflows..” (Psalm 23:5).
He’s the one setting the table, setting things up on your behalf, making preparations for you to feast. There is no lack at the Kings table, so come back for seconds, thirds, or as many times as you want
Cheers, DeAnn
