This week I recovered, bought, and was sent sunglasses on the exact same day. Three pairs of sunglasses arriving at the same day will no doubt get your attention. Meanwhile the song lyrics from Bing Crosby’s Christmas songs “do you hear what I hear” have been stuck in my head. The line heavy on my heart was, “do you see what I see.”
God doesn’t always “shout” at us, but it sure felt like it to me. When I “got quiet to catch the whisper” (Job 4:12)- I felt the Lord highlight the word “RE-FRAME.” By definition Reframe means to place in a new frame or reference, to express and understand something differently, or to reconsider your perspective.
I can’t think of a better time to reevaluate certain situations, both with the Holidays upon us and with the year coming to an end. I just talked with a friend who told her daughter, “it’s time for you to start seeing & believing the best in her friendship circles. I was in a class listening to the instructor tell us how “important enemies are to us, because without them we stay stuck and we won’t grow.” Adversaries-or The Adversary brings disruption and discomfort but the gift is that it re-align us.
They provoke us toward change and deepen us in ways of introspection and awareness. That’s some deep “re-framing,” our enemies are actually a gift to us. And lastly, I gave a nice “honk” at a lady while driving yesterday, letting her know she could “come into my lane.” She had the wrong idea and gave me the bird as I drove by her. Her loss though because the line was long…the wrong perspective will cost us. Sometimes only our time, but other times the cost will be much higher.
Isaiah says it like this, “His ways are not our ways..” (Isa.55:8-9) We must get higher, plus the view is always better. So with the Holidays upon us and as the year comes to a close- ask the Lord what He might have you “Re-frame.” What situations, circumstances, & relationships. Ask How He sees it and then let Him redefine it for you.
“I will look to see what God will say to me..” (Habb.2:1)
It’s a gift to see, I pray we’d all look with a clear lens this season.
Cheers, DeAnn
