Word of The Year

Word of The Year

Happy New Year and New Season! We are just weeks into January and already 2026 is feeling so different from 2025, change is in the air.

“The wise heart will know the proper Time & Procedure” (Ecc.8:6).

When the start of a New Year happens, I like to lean in and see what God is saying. Hear a word from Him, have something to focus on, be intentional about what He wants to do in my life/heart this next year. If you’ve never done this before, it’s a great practice. It sets a good pace for the year and it helps you to know how to proceed.

You can sit with God any time of day, but morning is usually best for me. The house is quiet, coffee is on, candle lit, journal out…the rest is up to Him.

“In the morning, the word of the Lord came to me..” (Ezekiel 12:8).

This year however, more than a “word,” I felt a “way.” A rhythm to sync up to and stay aligned with.

In Psalm 37 it says, “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust Him and He will do this.” (Ps.37:3-5)

I have some things in my heart this year that I’m wanting to see established, dreams to come to fruition, that sort of thing. This verse feels like the key and my obedience the unlocking. Trust-dwell-enjoy-delight myself-commit my way- that’s my pace & piece this season.

When we know what He has spoken to us, we know how to better align ourselves to his words and His ways in each season. I hope you’ll lean in..

“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity..” (Ecc.3:1)

Reframe

Reframe

This week I recovered, bought, and was sent sunglasses on the exact same day. Three pairs of sunglasses arriving at the same day will no doubt get your attention. Meanwhile the song lyrics from Bing Crosby’s Christmas songs “do you hear what I hear” have been stuck in my head. The line heavy on my heart was, “do you see what I see.”

God doesn’t always “shout” at us, but it sure felt like it to me. When I “got quiet to catch the whisper” (Job 4:12)- I felt the Lord highlight the word “RE-FRAME.” By definition Reframe means to place in a new frame or reference, to express and understand something differently, or to reconsider your perspective.

I can’t think of a better time to reevaluate certain situations, both with the Holidays upon us and with the year coming to an end. I just talked with a friend who told her daughter, “it’s time for you to start seeing & believing the best in her friendship circles. I was in a class listening to the instructor tell us how “important enemies are to us, because without them we stay stuck and we won’t grow.” Adversaries-or The Adversary brings disruption and discomfort but the gift is that it re-align us.

They provoke us toward change and deepen us in ways of introspection and awareness. That’s some deep “re-framing,” our enemies are actually a gift to us. And lastly, I gave a nice “honk” at a lady while driving yesterday, letting her know she could “come into my lane.” She had the wrong idea and gave me the bird as I drove by her. Her loss though because the line was long…the wrong perspective will cost us. Sometimes only our time, but other times the cost will be much higher.

Isaiah says it like this, “His ways are not our ways..” (Isa.55:8-9) We must get higher, plus the view is always better. So with the Holidays upon us and as the year comes to a close- ask the Lord what He might have you “Re-frame.” What situations, circumstances, & relationships. Ask How He sees it and then let Him redefine it for you.

“I will look to see what God will say to me..” (Habb.2:1)

It’s a gift to see, I pray we’d all look with a clear lens this season.

The Table

The Table

Thanksgiving is approaching and at a time where we all gather and give thanks, I can’t help but draw from the symbolism of this season. The preparation that is being made behind the scenes, the places that are being set and re-set, and the great feasting that will take place..these are the things the Lord is doing on our behalf and we are invited into all of it.

There is a place at the table that He’s picked out and prepared for us, there is feasting to be had in His presence, and there is purpose as we gather in gratitude.

I had a picture this morning of someone setting and re-setting the table. Some of the shifts were small, like changing out the silverware or the serving bowl (“a new thing to serve from and new utensils/tools to receive with), but some of the changes were bigger.

Place settings that were switched around, chairs we were use to sitting with got re-arranged. It made me think that we shouldn’t get to comfortable with the familiar way we’ve been doing things, but instead allow God to move us, re-direct our attention, and be open to the new things He wants to put in front of us.

Don’t be afraid to reposition yourself this season, you might just have a better seat.

TO SET IN PLACE:  to put in a specified place, to be purposefully situated.

RE-SET: to set again or differently, to be placed anew.

“He set’s a table before me in the presence of our enemies, He anoints my head with oil, my cup overflows..” (Psalm 23:5).

He’s the one setting the table, setting things up on your behalf, making preparations for you to feast. There is no lack at the Kings table, so come back for seconds, thirds, or as many times as you want

You’re Invited

You’re Invited

That’s right..YOU ARE INVITED!

This season there is an invitation that is being set before each of us by God himself. I believe that when “we get quiet, we will catch the whisper” (Job 4:12) into what it is. My invitation was to start typing and extending again! I believe there are many invitations upon us this season, some that will only require us to show up and receive and others that will prompt us towards action.

There is a beautiful invite the Father extends in Luke 15:11-32. After a wayward son makes his way back home, the Father is so pleased and throws a lavish party. Most of us know how this goes, he invites many to come and CELEBRATE. He invites the young prodigal to take his place in the home and receive his sonship, mantling him with the ring, robe, feasting, dancing, partaking in an extravagant night of bliss.

He doesn’t extend all this to the son because is gifted, or because he has been good, but simply because he is His.

The older brother takes notice and isn’t pleased. He’s been working in the field (working for the Father you could say) and his duty + performance hasn’t been winning him any metals, which was fine until the younger son showed up and showed him that there was never anything to win anyway.

The older brother is deeply disappointed by His fathers actions, not understanding the kind of Father he is. Still, he has an invitation before him too.

Invitations are specific. There is a

  • time
  • date
  • place

for the things we are being invited into.

It’s like Ecclesiastes 3 says, “there is a time and season for everything..” I wonder what God might have for you this time & season? How will you proceed forward? (Ecc. 8:6)

Your answer is on the other side of your asking. “No good thing does He withhold from us” (Psalm 84:11). It’s our privilege, our birthright as sons and daughters of a good Father to communicate with Him about what’s on His heart for us. Take the invitation, get quiet and listen, then lean into what He has for you this season…you won’t be sorry!
